Prior to your initial treatment, Dr. Cook will inquire into your medical history, past surgeries, family medical history, allergies, and medications you are taking or may have recently discontinued. The primary goal of obtaining medical history is to understand your state of health and to determine how your history relates to any acute complaints or pain symptoms you may be experiencing. This evaluation will include Dr. Cook’s working diagnosis of your situation, based on your history and current symptoms, as well as her recommendation for a treatment protocol. While still giving her patients their personal space, Dr. Cook likes to connect with them as fully as possible in order to understand their background and their current symptoms. Consequently, she will take the necessary time to get to know her patients and how best she can support them in their healing journey. You will leave with a better understanding of what is going on with your body and how the D.N.F.T.® technique works. Plan on your initial visit lasting 60 minutes.
Dr. Cook wants to make sure that your body is responding well to her approach and the D.N.F.T.® technique, and so during follow-up sessions she will ask for your verbal feedback relative to what is going on with your body. One of the best ways to improve our health and wellness is to listen and hear our bodies when they talk to us, by which we mean, slowing down, tuning out the nonsense, and asking questions like, “How am I feeling?” This is vital to long-lasting wellness. Listening to our body encourages an evaluation of what our bodies are saying and what our bodies need. This is a priority for Dr. Cook and the partnership she wants to create with you on your wellness journey. In addition, you will receive recommendations of exercises and stretches you can do that will help you get back to optimal wellness and doing what you love.
